RELEASE FORMS

What are Releases? A property or model release is a written, signed agreement between the photographer and the model or property owner. In most cases a release allows unhindered commercial use of the image(s) but it does not allow defamatory, controversial or sensitive use.

Model Release. Images showing identifiable people, silhouettes, sports professionals, close up crowds, police, fire, medics, celebrities, public figures and body parts may need a signed model release to be used commercially.

How to get a release form. If the photographer has indicated a release is available and you as the buyer request a copy of the release, we will contact the photographer and ask for a copy to be sent to us as a pdf. We will send this on to you. If necessary we can make a request for the original document.

The responsibility for providing accurate information regarding model and property releases is solely that of the photographer.

It is the artbuyers responsibility to decide whether a release is required or not. Trigger Image accepts no responsibility for information supplied to us which is inaccurate.

Images of children under 18 years of age will require the signature of a parent or guardian. If the model is deceased a signed release from their heirs is required.

Property Release. Images showing private property, museums, theme parks, zoos, logos, art and landmarks might need a signed property release if they are to be used commercially. As an example, a photo of a car will need the signed release from it's owner. Similar images without a release form can only be used for editorial reproduction.
