WHAT ARE KEYWORDS?

It is vital that all high resolution images submitted to us have been given keywords. This is in order that they can be found in a search by potential buyers.

Keywords help describe an image and its content.

Keywords can be conceptual, literal, general or specific.

Try to think of more than simply describing the image. If you think it's relevant include it, but do not include words that are not relevant.

Tips. You do not have to add plurals ie 'car' and 'cars'. but use as many relevant words as possible, eg, automobile, saloon, transport, power, speed, fun, drive, travel, journey, black and white, colour, grainy, blurred, etc.

Cutting and pasting keywords from one image to another saves a lot of time, if the content is similar, but remember to be accurate. Potential buyers will be turned off if they see images that are not relevant to their search.

How to add keywords.

Keywords are added to each image file in the 'IPTC Content' > Keyword field.

1) Open the image in Photoshop.
2) Go File > File Info.
3) Choose IPTC Content and enter your keywords in the relevant section separating them using commas.
4) Save your file.
